Speech therapy in GroningenTalking, reading and swallowing get easier with a little help

Come to Praatpaal when your child is hard to understand, when your voice keeps letting you down or when swallowing is difficult. We practise with games, conversation and small tasks for home.

Around age 2

Most children use about 50 words and start combining two, like "daddy gone".

Around age 3

Short sentences of three or four words. Familiar people understand most of it.

Around age 4

Strangers usually understand the child too. R and S sounds may still be hard.

From age 5

Most sounds are in place. If reading stalls or a lisp stays, a screening is worthwhile.

A free 15-minute screening. Therapy at the practice, at school or at your home.

Fenna Wiersma

I've been a speech and language therapist since 2013 and work with children from age two and with adults. I'm also a stammering therapist.

I work closely with local schools, childcare and GPs. Sessions can be at the practice, at school or at your home.

Speech therapy is covered by Dutch basic insurance. Under 18s pay no excess. Private rates:
